Instructions
Heat a wok over medium heat. Add oil, cumin seeds and minced garlic. Sauté until slightly golden brown.
Add lentils, turmeric, red pepper, salt, garlic powder and water and bring to a boil.
Reduce heat to low-medium and cook for 30 minutes. Add water as needed.
Garnish with fresh cilantro. Serve hot.
Optional: Serve with cooked basmati rice.
Notes
If soup is thicker than desired, add an additional cup or two of water.
